    NIFT Syllabus Overview

    • Written Test
    • Situation Test (for B.Des candidates)

    1. Written Test (For B.Des and B.FTech)

    The written test includes the following sections:

    General Ability Test (GAT)
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Number of Questions: 150
    • Sections:
      1. Quantitative Ability: Mathematics, including topics like ratios, percentages, profit and loss, algebra, and basic geometry.
      2. Communication Ability: English grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and logical reasoning.
      3. Analytical Ability: Logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving.
      4. General Knowledge & Current Affairs: Awareness of national and international events, the fashion industry, history of fashion, art, and culture.
    Creative Ability Test (CAT)
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Sections:
      • This test evaluates a candidate’s creativity, conceptualization, and visualization skills through drawing and sketching.
      • Candidates are asked to draw or design based on a given theme (e.g., designing a product or illustrating a concept).

    NID Syllabus Overview

    The NID entrance exam is designed to evaluate a candidate’s creativity, problem-solving abilities, and design aptitude. The NID entrance is divided into two phases:

    • Phase 1: Design Aptitude Test (DAT)
    • Phase 2: Studio Test and Interview (for B.Des candidates)

    1. Design Aptitude Test (DAT) – Prelims

    The DAT Prelims consists of the following components:

    Part A – Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs)
    • Sections:
      1. General Knowledge: Awareness of global and national events, contemporary design, culture, and art.
      2. Logical Reasoning: Pattern recognition, visual-spatial reasoning, and cognitive skills.
      3. Quantitative Ability: Basic math including problem-solving and data interpretation.
    Part B – Creative Ability Test

      • This is a drawing-based test that assesses creativity, visualization, and conceptualization skills.
      • Candidates are asked to sketch, illustrate, or design based on a given topic.

    2. Studio Test and Interview (for B.Des candidates)

    • Studio Test:

    • Personal Interview:
