Got questions?

Syllabus, answered.

Everything aspirants ask about the NID syllabus, answered.

NID DAT has two stages — DAT Prelims (a written test with GAT objective + CAT creative-ability sections) and DAT Mains (a hands-on Studio Test plus a personal interview) for final selection.

Practise daily observational sketching, study design principles, and solve timed creative prompts. The CAT carries the bulk of the weightage, so consistent drawing practice is key.

The Studio Test is a hands-on, material-handling exercise where you build models or prototypes under time pressure — testing creativity, craft and problem-solving beyond paper.

It isn't mandatory, but structured mentorship, mock studio tests and portfolio reviews dramatically sharpen the creative and time-management skills the DAT rewards.

Focus on design GK compilations, art-history references, and reasoning workbooks. Our free NID kit bundles curated GAT notes and a current-affairs roadmap.

Sketch daily from observation and memory, study perspective and shading, and get regular feedback on your work — our mentors review your sketches through the trial.

Ideally 8–12 months ahead, so you can build drawing fundamentals, cover the GAT syllabus, and complete several full-length mock DATs before the exam.
