Istituto Europeo di Design-IED
For more than five decades, the Istituto Europeo di Design has been operating in the domain of education and research – in design, fashion, visual communication, and management. The IED is an expanding global network that issues first-level academic diplomas and organises three-year courses, Masters courses, and professional development and advanced training courses.
The significant milestones in its history include the foundation of the IED campuses in Milan, Rome, Turin, Madrid, Barcelona, São Paulo, Venice, Florence, and Cagliari. IED: Italy Design and Fashion Courses
IED students learn to use state-of-the-art technical equipment and software in order to enter the market with ready-to-use skills. Irrespective of the course of their choice, students must follow Communication, Marketing and Management courses and participate in cross-disciplinary projects. Seminars, masterclasses, visits, workshops and special exhibitions by professionals from renowned institutions and companies complete the learning-by-doing experience. Becoming a student here is easy. Before you proceed with applying, choose a course of your interest. The educational offer of IED group comprises many programs at Undergraduate level (First Level Academic Diplomas, BAH, IED Diplomas), and Master level, but also Continuing Education Courses (Summer, Semester/One Year programs) or Specialization Courses. Once you have selected your choice, verify the admission requirements and fee structure that varies for various courses. As mentioned in IED Admission Procedures, in parallel to IED Admission/Enrollment process students are required to go to the local Consulate to pre-enrol and validate their Secondary School Certificate. This procedure is mandatory for all students applying to IED BA Course who require a Student (University) VISA. It is a necessary step to inform Italian authorities of your decision to study at IED – Istituto Europeo di Design. If you studied in a foreign country or in an international school, you have to validate your Secondary School Certificate through the Declaration of Local Value. This document is issued upon request by the local Italian Consulate and it has to be sent to IED to complete the dossier. In case you are not a graduate yet, you can take the appointment before graduation at the local Italian Consulate (or Italian Institute of Culture or Embassy).

Complete the Personal Information section and fill in and sign the Pre-Admission Form and send it to the school together with the requested documents, listed in the admission procedure. IED will inform you about the result of the evaluation process and will start the admission process.
After receiving the required documents, IED will evaluate them and, if necessary, schedule an admission interview on Skype considering your availability. After admission, you will be able to complete the enrollment process by signing documents and regulations and by paying the required fees.
After the enrolment, there are additional formalities to take care of. As a non-EU student, visit the Italian Embassy in order to inform them of your decision to apply to IED and to apply for the proper visa. Since this process takes a month or more and rules are often subject to change, applicants should ensure that the procedures begin in good time. After the enrollment, you need to complete the payment of the required fees (Tuition and Prerequisite language course). Before starting the official lessons, you will be invited to attend the presentation of your course. There are several courses on offer. And the start date is in October 2019 for three-year courses conducted in English. You can be a photographer, a fashion stylist, a fashion designer, a jewellery designer, interior designer, a transportation designer, a graphics designer and lots more.
For a fashion stylist course, the objective is to prepare students who are made capable of effectively contributing to the communication processes, the promotion and the enhancement of the fashion product and the featuring imaginary aesthetic/style. From the second year, students have to attend the specialisation in Fashion Communication to create and manage an integrated communication strategy, manage an advertising campaign, deal with the media and those operating throughout the sector, organize events and fashion shows, but also plan and launch a product, a designer or a brand.

As a Stylist, you can become Fashion Stylist, Brand Consultant, Creative Direction Coordinator, Fashion Research Expert.
You can pursue a course in Jewelry Design. Develop and manage the whole jewel collection project, from the concept and creative sketch – using both hands-on and digital techniques – to define a mood and produce the collection. Alongside design skills, a good professional has an extensive culture of design, fashion, and art, allowing interpretation of trends, styles, market needs, consumer growth which make him able to provide creative and innovative design proposals. The knowledge of industrial mechanisms and marketing or communication strategies allows proper interaction with other professionals, to comprehend the whole production chain. Be a Jewelry Designer, Product Manager, Jewelry Technician, Independent Artist. This course is recognized by Italian Ministry of Education and Research (MIUR) as a BA.
The main goal of the course is training students to design spaces merging feelings and perceptions with a rigorous functional disposition. They learn to interact with the Italian design system – the complex and unique network of relations among Italian/international Designers, schools, Made in Italy businesses producing furniture/lamps and customer companies. Students learn those expressive tools that allow developing, assessing, and explaining a project from the briefing to the final creation and communication: the pencil, 3D modelling and rendering software.
Graphic Design course focuses on training visual communication experts. This professional figure works on the complex communication systems through different media, with knowledge of advanced editing software, professional printing, and production methods. The contexts students operate in are graphic design studios, which are progressively expanding in different fields: product design, communication, fashion, photography, but also corporate communication and design areas, publishing companies, web, advertising agencies and TV production.
