CLAT 2019 important notice issued by High Court

The Punjab and Haryana high court on Tuesday issued a notice to the central government, among others, about how CLAT 2016 should be conducted all over India to get admission in the top 17 National Law Universities of India and others accepting CLAT score.

The notice was issued asking the authorities to conduct CLAT 2016 (common law admission test) in online as well as offline modes.

The notice was issued by the bench of justice SK Mittal and justice HS Sidhu on a petition filed by Hemen Aggarwal. The petition says that CLAT is conducted only in the online mode, which puts students from rural areas at a disadvantage. He said there was poor infrastructure of computers etc. in rural areas, adding that both online and offline modes should be available for students to ensure a level playing field.

This year, CLAT will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala. The last date to fill the forms is March 31, while the examination would be held on May 8th, 2016. There is little time to come to a final decision and make suitable arrangements to conduct the exam offline. CLAT is being conducted online since the last 2 years and taking it offline now can prove to be a hassle and any hasty decision can prove to backfire.

Whether the Centre will accept this decision, is still not final.

Till then, aspirants should stay prepared for taking the test online.
